Salmon Falls and PainCare Sponsor Apple Harvest Day 5k for 6th Year
For the sixth straight year, PainCare and Salmon Falls Family Healthcare will be the underwriting sponsors for the Apple Harvest Day 5K Road Race on Saturday, October 4th. The race, organized by the Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce, will kick-off the 30th Annual Apple Harvest Day, which attracted over 60,000 people to the Garrison City in 2013. PainCare and Salmon Falls Family Healthcare have been the race underwriters for each of the six years in which the race has been organized.
“Our practice is focused on enhancing the quality of life for our patients, so supporting the Apple Harvest Day 5K is a natural fit for PainCare and Salmon Falls Family Healthcare,” commented Dr. Michael J. O’Connell, owner and CEO of both organizations.
The 5K Road Race is scheduled to begin at 8:30am at the Dover Skate Park on River Street. The course will wind through downtown Dover with the majority of the race taking place on Central Avenue, Court Street and Henry Law Avenue. Runners will finish on Washington Street, just steps from the Apple Harvest Day festival which will have over 300 vendors, five entertainment stages and countless family activities and amusements from 9:00am to 4:00pm.
In 2013, nearly 800 runners participated in the 5K with Eric Couture of Boston winning with a time of 16:06. Melissa Murray of Newfields, NH was the female winner, finishing with a time of 19:55. Race organizers are expecting to see even more competition and participation in 2014.
“We are well ahead of our registration numbers so far this year in comparison to past years,” said Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce Community Events Manager, Ryan Queenan. “Due to the popularity of the Apple Harvest Day, the race has received considerable promotion locally and nationally which will lead to a great turn out this October.”
