SFFH’s New Green-Inspired Facility
Salmon Falls Family Healthcare of Somersworth recently held a ground-breaking ceremony for its new facility, which will be located at 7 Works Way in Somersworth, in front of the Works Family Health and Fitness Center.
Dr. Michael J. O’Connell, owner and CEO of Salmon Falls, expressed intense interest in building green. The new facility aims to be Energy Star Certified once completed. A renewable energy plan has been developed to include some 60 plus photovoltaic solar panels as well as five solar hot water panels. Construction team members are in the process of obtaining the necessary approvals for a wind turbine, consistent with site restrictions and local regulations.
The building design shall incorporate use of direct and tunneled natural illumination with all southern exposures. Its energy efficient building envelope will include the optimal use of recyclable insulation, a cool roof and high performance windows, reducing the loads on the building’s mechanical systems. Energy efficient lighting fixtures, occupancy sensors and daylight harvesting dimmers will be used to further minimize energy consumption and significantly reduce the CO2 footprint. Careful consideration has been given to specifying finished materials that have a low impact on our environment, such as cultured stone made from recycled content, low VOC paints and recyclable carpeting tiles.
Providers and staff at Salmon Falls look forward to serving their patients with compassion and expertise in this new, state-of-the-art facility.
